Sunlight makes fun and healthy, provides vitamins and warmth on the skin. But what if prolonged exposure to sunlight?
Nowadays, more and more cases of skin cancer, and still growing every day. To avoid skin cancer or hyperpigmentation caused by sunlight, you should know the characteristics of sunlight.
Protect yourself from the sun is not only shy away from the sun. Apparently, 80 percent of ultraviolet rays can pass through clouds and into your room. So you need a sunscreen to protect your skin, either indoors or outdoors, every day. Here, tips to help you stay safe from the sun:
Choose a waterproof sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 (some dermatologists recommend 30 or higher). If possible, look for products that have approval from the Skin Cancer Foundation.
When you at shop, choose a sunscreen that can protect from UVA and UVB or look for products that contain: zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, ecamsule (Mexoryl SX), avobenzone (Parsol 1789), cinoxate, methyl anthranilate, octyl methoxycinnamate, octyl salicylate, oxybenzone, and sulisobenzone.
Check carefully the expiration date. Sunscreen remains effective for at least three years.
Apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before you go outside. If you are swimming and exercising, you should apply a more sunscreen to your body.
Make sure that you apply sunscreen evenly, do not forget the neck, ears, nose, hands and toes, as well as the back of the arms and legs.
Love your lips, use lip balm with SPF 15 or higher.
Limit your time in the sun, especially during midday (10:00 to 16:00), when the sun has a very strong intensity.
Wear sun protective clothing, wide brimmed hat and sunglasses as an additional layer of defense. Keep in mind that sunlight can penetrate light-colored cloth and thin.
Check your skin regularly to your dermatologist. In essence, prevention is better than cure.
