Reducing Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation, a skin condition common as brown spots or blotches on the face or body caused by too much melanin in the skin. Although harmless, hyperpigmentation can ruin your appearance.

There are several things that you and your dermatologist can do to reduce or at least to cover hyperpigmentation.

Knowing the facts about the foundation
If you find a point which would you hide, choose liquid foundation or powder. And if you have oily skin or acne, avoid oil-based foundations and use water-based foundation instead.

Use of sunscreen
Freckles and age spots can be avoided by simply using broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. The trick is to apply sunscreen early, frequent, and all year round – even in winter, and even if it is cloudy.

Use a skin lightening
If discoloration has appeared recently (within six months or more), try skin lightening botanical contains bearberry (arbutin) or coffee extract to diminish hyperpigmentation.

Consider something more powerful
If you have ever experienced hyperpigmentation for six months, ask your dermatologist make a prescription-strength retinoids or light skin. Remember, the longer, more difficult to fade.

If your acne
Use a concealer with salicylic acid or glycolic acid drugs.
